Summer Card Class 2 - Week 1 Day 5 Part 2

As mentioned in the prior post – I had to try out a technique that leaves a pattern (pencil marks) behind your stamping.  Naturally I used another optional color combo – using up two pieces of cardstock that I have no idea where I got it.  Plus I used three stamp sets that I had not used yet – woohoo!

Summer Card Class 2 – Week 1 Day 5 Part 1

Big title for a little post – but it makes sense, if you know me.  There was one sketch this week that I had not used yet (and new optional color combos), and there was a new technique I learned that I had to try.  So I had to do both (had to), but not on the same card.  It is just me being a little obsessive.

This card is the third sketch one – and would have been done in the 10 minute challenge window except – stickles take forever to dry when it is slightly humid outside.  Does the card count as being done if nobody can touch it yet?  I guess it is one of life’s mysteries, lol.

Summer Card Class 2 - Week 1 Day 2

The class today focused on techniques – including finger-painting! Well, painting in general and using your fingers to make a base on the paper for stamping (or in my case a detail stencil of a butterfly). The banner is actual the front of the card, which lifts up at a fold under the brads. The black cardstock was doubled to add stability, and to cover the back prongs of the brads.

Summer Card Class 2 Week 1 Day 1

The first day of class – and I get to tear the plastic off and open all of my neon ink pads that have been sitting on the rack for 6 months or more. Today is about using a color combo and a sketch, and making a birthday card for a friend who is turning 21 (that last bit is my own assignment). Turned out to be too many challenges at one time, the project took too long and the card turned out very simple but I love the graphic look to it. Now I just need to get it in the mail!

SUPPLIES: Cardstock: (Black) CTMH, (pink) unknown
Stamp: (Sentiment Sampler) Paper Smooches
Ink: (Neon Orange, Neon Yellow, Neon Pink, Neon Blue) Hero Arts

Welcome Back

My online card class starts on Monday – and I thought I would do one more card before it starts and I have "homework" to do.  A very sweet and kind friend starts back to work tomorrow after being out on maternity leave.  Tomorrow will be the first day that she will leave her little cutie home while she heads back to the office, so I wanted to make her a card letting her know that we are thrilled she is back even though it will be rough on her for the next few weeks.

The style of this card is a Joy Fold Card – sort of a card within a card.  Very simple and it gives you the opportunity to use five different coordinating prints – I really feel that I am using up a 6X6 paper pad!

I also used my Distress Markers – and did a little wash over white embossing (Kristina Werner just did a similar technique on her blog).  You can see the one I used, but below is a picture of the first attempt – I really wanted to fit all the colors of the paper into the wash, and no amount of water could wash it all away (I tried, trust me).

I cannot wait until class – I am always so inspired by the teachers and fellow students!
