Birthday Monkey / Birthday Girl

I bought a great assortment pack at the Scrapbook Expo full of all the Happy Day collection by SEI.  I decided to make a stack of birthday cards with the pack, so that I would have a stash of birthday cards on hand.  I choose the two image stamps so that I would have cards that would work for both genders.

I stamped the monkey and the birthday girl several times, and colored the images in (along with a little paper piecing).  However, I could not come up with one idea for a single card layout that would let me utilize all the pieces in the kit.  I turned to my craft magazines; I always try to tear out layout templates and ideas from my various magazines and keep a file of ideas.  I found the perfect layout in the Quick Cards Made Easy magazine – a large square card with lots of layers of cardstock and patterned paper.

Once I matched the layout with my images and paper – the cards came together very easily – leaving me with a stack of 6 very different cards.  Thank goodness for the ideas that the art pros share with us mere mortals!
